It’s been some time since I last posted anything so I decited to show what I’ve been up to pretty much whole August(but not actively). It’s still not even close to done and I originally planned to only post it if/when it’s finished but I partly made this for my own amusement too. To gather all the pictures of the project in one place if you will.
So, through my summer job I got this used Rapunzel tv series doll, it should have bendable braid but it has been cut off. I thought I could use it to finally try some doll customizing that I’ve been wanting to do.
I wasn’t fan of the plastic shirt but elbow and knee joints were pretty nice. After some pondering I decided to try and turn it into Chizuru, the pointy nose made it very suitable for anime characters and while proportions aren’t the same it’s kinda chibi-ish. Also on the same day I got the doll I got some brownish-black used wig hair so it felt like it was meant to be.
So first I sanded all plastic lace down. It probably wouldn’t matter that much under clothes but it makes it smoother and little thinner.
And took off the face. I also made prototype of the clothes that you can see here.
After duncing it in hot water I removed the head. Well.. eh.. I broke it in the process because something has to go wrong but I glued it back and it should hold now just as good as before.
So here’s basically what I’ve done this far, hakama and haori patterns+prototypes and the final versions. The first hakama pattern that I tried was too narrow so I made new ones with bigger pleats. I only managed to find light pink for the shirt so that has to do for now. Face and hair has to wait for a while since I don’t yet have all materials for those but I’ll get there eventually.
And this is what I’m trying to do next, the kodachi. I have no idea if I actually can do it from popsicle sticks or if I need to change the materials but we’ll see :)
