MERLIN: “If there really is a way of stopping them, why didn’t I find it fifteen hundred years ago?”

MERLIN: “And that is?”
ARTHUR: “Someone even more stubborn than you to make you keep trying.”

*Reluctant, MERLIN obeys. Beat*

Talking about marrige
GWEN: Of all people I know how uncomfortable it all is... But I did tell you I spoke with him. You are my husband, Arthur.
ARTHUR (beat – pensive): No, I’m not. GWEN is perplexed by his words. ARTHUR: It’s “‘til death do us part.” When I died, our marriage ended.
GWEN (beat to process - gentle smile): Then ask me to marry you again.
She waits, anticipating ARTHUR’s proposal. ARTHUR stares at her regretfully. He opens his mouth, but no words make it out. GWEN’s smile diminishes.
*PERCIVAL bursts through the doors* PERCIVAL: Sire, you must come quickly!
ARTHUR (alarmed): What is it?
PERCIVAL: It’s Merlin.
That is all ARTHUR needs to hear. He bolts up from his chair and follows PERCIVAL. GWEN hurries after him.
True Nature of Merlin’s Night terrors
ARTHUR: “You can’t give up. We’ve got to find out what’s causing it.
MERLIN: (frustrated huff) “Well — you know what? How’s this for a cause: I’ve been given this problem because I deserve it. I’ve done so much wrong that the gods have sent it upon me as punishment.”
ARTHUR: (freezes) “What did you say?”
