I spent like the past 20 minutes passionately describing all of the structural influence/potential for Knightfall to my boyfriend and I realised there are five points in favour of it:
1. The Indecisive King fairytale
2. The Fall Maiden ‘learning to value what’s in front of you’ lesson (Jaune foregrounded in front of Cinder 2x)
3. Rhodopis being freed by Sappho’s brother and being in a romantic relationship with him (Cinderella-esque story in Herodotus, Jaune’s sister is Sappho, introduced in V6 after major Cinder/Jaune interaction in V5)
4. Joan of Arc hearing from three saints, two of whom fit Ruby and Pyrrha; the third, St. Margaret of Antioch, frees herself from the belly of a dragon (sometimes considered Satan) - Cinder breathes fire and is under dominion of Salem
5. Reverse Salem/Ozma, the entire story is about generational inheritance; Salem/Ozma is lovers to enemies, human to Grimm, and also involves the breaking of trust (a continually revisited theme in the series); Knightfall is enemies to lovers, Grimm to human (purified by Ruby, helped by Jaune with his Semblance?) and would involve the deep cultivation of trust. This is like a whole other post on its own I’m still working on
anyway the influence to it is fucking exhausting and I need somebody to stop me. please. I’m begging you

Okay, I still don't understand why I haven't been a Shallura stan up until now (bad timing, tbh), but after watching this AMV I can't shake how amazing their dynamic was and how much potential we lost. Wow, this video made me very emotional.
