Fluffy Friday headcanon, here we go: at some point in post canon Daniel shows up in Marius’s studio. He is visibly nervous and asks him for a drop of his blood. Marius is a bit surprised, because only one drop, are we getting modest, dear boy? And then Daniel opens his palm and shows him a small amulet with a tiny vial- a simple but very pretty one, totally different from the one he had so long ago- telling him that, no, he will never become modest, but he wants to give this to Armand with a drop of both their blood in it. Like a promise of a new beginning, so Armand, who always feared abandonment will know that both, his maker and his fledgeling are always with him. Does Marius think this is a good idea?

He certainly does, and if anyone asks him during the next court session why his eyes look so wet, its hayfever, thankyouvermuch.

I totally headcanon Daniel as a thoughtful gift-giver, he just strikes me as someone who's good at giving presents that are meaningful. And this is the most meaningful gift ever! An amulet for Armand to keep his maker and fledgling with him at all times?? Like that is so perfect for Armand, who often fears being abandoned! Holy shit, what an incredible idea!

🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?

I have a few!! And I've actually written some bits and pieces of these but I don't like them so I need to start all over: 1. Daniel coming out of his madness is something I want to tackle. I do have a draft of this but I feel like I've reconsidered some elements of his madness so I want to change a lot of it. Parts of it are probably salvagable, I just need to take a hatchet to it. 2. Armand and Daniel during TotBT - like I want to give them their own villain to contend with to explain why Armand can't come to Lestat's aid. I did write a few chapters of a version of this but I'm not happy with it and I'm so bad at plotting. So I need to really sit down and plot it out and then start over, I think.

There are probably a few more but those are the main two I really want to write and just haven't managed so far. ⏰ Do you spend more time reading fic, writing fic, or do you do both equally? I already answered this in the previous ask but I will say, it can vary! I wrote a lot for these February events in December-Janaury (I'm sure everyone is sick of me posting 😬) so I haven't been writing much the past week. I'm still trying to finish one fic for Valenfangs (it's the last part of the Amethyst Ring) so I've been working on that a bit but otherwise, I've just been reading all of the amazing fic everyone is sharing. So it can go in waves!

🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

Literally every smut fic I've written, LOL! I try to so hard to make sure so I'm not so stuck on the physicality aspect that I forget to give the characters emotions and feelings! Hey Pretty was especially difficult in that regard because it was a lot of voyeurism at first, and it was from the POV of Armand who's not even participating, so I wanted to make it visceral and real but obviously he's feeling things secondhand. I definitely spent a lot of time writing and rewriting it until I was happy with it, but I'm very proud of the result!

🧿what steps do you take to not take things personally if a fic doesn't do well, or if your writing/posting/sharing experience isn't going how you'd like it to?

I already answered this one here but I will add: I think it also helps to remember the VC book fandom is a very small fandom, all things considered. And even if a fic doesn't do well right away, maybe it will find more readers later. I don't think fic writers should ever be shy about re-sharing their fics weeks or months later, or promoting them for various events if they fit the prompts, etc.

But really, the key is to decide what a "successful" fic means to you. For me, it's really just knowing a few people liked it. Obviously I love comments, reblogs, and kudos (who doesn't??) but what really matters is that someone else (or several someones) liked what I did with the characters or situation or it spoke to them in some way, or just made them laugh. Because it's a small fandom, sometimes a pairing or style of fic isn't going to get a lot of people excited and that's fine, as long as a couple people are vibing with it, I have done what I set out to do.

Is there any writer/musician or other artist (can be someone who is dead or alive) you would (have) like(d) to meet?

Great question! Yes! Douglas Adams! I absolutely loved his writing - he was so funny and so insightful! And he seemed like a really great, affable guy and I would love to get a chance to meet him and speak with him for a little bit. He was gone from this world far too soon.

18. Do you have any plans for a new oneshot/several new oneshots?

Yes! I always have like 5 things in the works at any given time and most of what I write are one shots. Right now in particular, I'm working on three pieces for Kink Week that I hope to have finished in time.

All three of those are Armand/Daniel but I would like to get an Lestat/Daniel one in there if I can manage as well. We'll see how work treats me next week. If not, I'm sure I'll get to it eventually. I love writing them together, it's so fun.
