But most of Big Finish is filling in the past? I think its great that Doctor Who leaves so much room to be filled in with new adventures, be that by cannon or by the hands of its fans

Yeah, there is a lot of Big Finish devoted to filling in the past. But honesty, I don’t care for those bits as much. I prefer new story arcs and new character arcs (if they did a post departure arc for Donna, for example, I’d be thrilled). If I want, say, an authentic experience of the past, I can just turn on my TV and watch the actual episodes instead. I prefer when Big Finish finds new spaces to explore.
