This. Here And Now. With You
Spontaneity was his thing; it was his feat that he used against others— so when the smaller arrancar came and held him in her embrace unwarned, he was a bit surprised. He’d feel her arms wrap around him, and for a second he was hesitant, he didn’t know what exactly was going on, what had caused the sudden arrival of Azara. Perhaps she was being bullied again; A single hand would reach to the top of her head, brushing her hair softly. He’d offer her what he thought she needed; comfort. " There there…. what’s the ma— " He was cut short by her outburst, which caught him even more off guard, was this how he made her feel when he had confessed his feelings? A soft tint of pink veiled his cheeks as he looked down to Azara, continuing to brush through her hair with his fingers.
" …..Are you sure, Azara? “ He’d ask in a low yet solemn tone of voice, his hand trailing from her head under her chin. ” Are you sure… that I’m what you want? ” He’d ask again; its not like he had never gotten his heart broken — or broken the hearts of others, but he hated to set himself up for heartbreak. Him, someone who did nothing but break others, mentally and physically — hated the feeling of heartbreak; but doesn’t everybody? He needed to make sure she was serious, he wanted to know that she wasn’t acting on a whim. Days had passed since he had confessed to her, could she have made up her mind since then? Bright blue hues would stare into her black ones with anticipation, awaiting an answer to put an end to his anxiety.
As Aaroniero combed his fingers through her hair, last remaining shreds of doubt within her vanished. That tender gesture served as a physical reminder of everything that had led her to returning the Espada’s feelings. His warmth, his kindness, and his gentleness.
She gave him an immediate response, one without any sort of hesitation. Azara looked up at the Noveno as she replied, a genuine, and hopefully somewhat reassuring smile on her face.
“I’m sure.”
The Fifty-Seventh released him from her embrace and raised a single hand to gently caress the side of his face, a light blush coloring her cheeks as she continued to speak.
“I…I want to be with you, Aaroniero-sama.” Her tone was gentle but unmistakably sincere.
If she hadn’t been so focused on trying to put an end his uncertainty, she might have been amused at how in this moment, their usual roles were reversed. Now she was the one who had to convince the other that their words and actions were genuine, while he was the one trying to gauge just how honest the other was being.
"I want to be with you more than anything I've ever wanted." Those words sounded so foolish coming out of her mouth, but they were true.
