I don’t know....
I used to be scared that I couldn’t see my future. I used to feel ashamed when people would ask me where I saw myself in ten years and I simply answered with I don’t know. Everyone around me seemed to have it all figured out. They knew exactly what they wanted and they could see their future so clearly, and it made me feel as if I was going nowhere. But then I realized that it is okay not to know. It doesn’t mean that I lack ambition or that my life won’t mean anything; it simply means that I am free. It means that I am not restricted by the idea of one singular future. It means that there are endless possibilities and I can seize them all. There are many different paths to the future, and I can choose whichever I wish because I am not so focused on reaching a single destination that I miss the journey. I now feel empowered when I say I don’t know what I want my future to look like. No on can know the future, it is always changing and even if you plan every detail, something will come along and throw your plan into chaos. So don’t plan every detail of your future, don’t put all your hopes and dreams into one possibility. Choose a general direction and see where the road takes you. Don’t be afraid to wander from the path you have chosen or change direction completely. Don’t feel ashamed to say I don’t know. Don’t put all your energy into the future that you forget to live in the moment, because right now, is all we truly have. We know our past, we can imagine our future...but in the end all that matters is what you do NOW, because you never know when it could end, and you may never reach the future you worked so hard for.
