My Problem with Red Camera and Film Gear in General
I'm upgrading to my last camera that I will be shooting my films with. I don't want to spend any higher and if I do, I'm out of my fucking mind or Red released a camera with an onboard 10 Channel Mixer. Moving on, I have been working on this Red camera build list for the past 3 days. 3. Fucking. Days Let me tell you what happens when you decide to become a Red owner, you breathe the air of Red cameras and admire everything about them. They have a shop (where I am most likely going to spend a crap load of money and I'm already spending tons of money on the camera) where I can purchase Red everything. Your life and soul is dedicated to the company. I NEED TO MAKE SACRIFICES TO GET A REDUCED PRICE ON THIS CAMERA! The gear that you start to get seems like little when you start out, then you forget you had to get PL Lenses which cost about $3,000 a piece. Then you forget your Mattebox, follow focus ring, heavy duty tripod. Then you remember you need good audio, and remember a billion other things in the process. I think I've gotten this list done and I shouldn't be missing anything. I'm purchasing the lenses off ebay because I can't afford to spend toward 5 figure, 6 figure prices. They have entire sets for half the price of one PL mounted lens. I need to prioritize certain pieces of gear. I want this device to work before I get my memory cards, (hard drives actually. I don't want to carry around 500 CF Cards) baseplate, rods. My computer is 4K capable, I just need to use proxies and exports take longer. I have patience. This is a lot of gear, but I am saving up and I am a free lancer filmmaker. I do get paid, and money is going toward this entire build.
