Technically Thomas dies, but the book takes place in sort of a reality bending otherworld so while he gets murdered multiple times due to his mythical archetype (Dumuzi) he’s still walking and talking by the end of the book. It’s complicated.

Some of those murders appear to be motivated by homophobia, even when that’s not exactly what’s going on. Warnings for: Matthew Sheppard parallels, homophobia, rape (of a different character, not Thomas), torture
