I first watched this after listening to the podcast Thomas did about the Joe's pub plot. In that he said there was like some more inclusive character change I really can't remember and then, I watched this. The gay Razias, better know as, Mercury Momentum's.

My first VERY FIRST COMPLIMENT I'D GIVE THIS MUSICAL ARE HONESTLY THE NARRATOR. They finally gave the narrator a good mic and also they were very calm sounding like the album which I appreciate so much.
The costumes in this are another case of "brown pants white shirt" business with Arimah wearing a very plain robe with a brown sash around the waist. So, same complaints here with that, I wish they'd add a little more so it was some what more appealing to the eye and not so, boring. I did like how everyone had a little something different around their waist though. In part 2 they actually have more color which looks SO MUCH BETTER. The Oracle skirts were really cool and I like the colored wigs of some of the actresses. Also the kings sparkling beard.
Okay now on to the male Nidria. This is not the only gender switch they made with this musical, they also made Barayas, the doctor and O women which was cool. (This cast was clearly like 80% women) I never see O as having one gender really I see O really as like, ya'know a god, people have many interpretations of O. Anyways on too how Nidria being a male feels a little funny, like I don't know the reason and if the reason was to just be different I mean for them, why not? But, it really makes me go....so is Arimah Bi or Gay in this one because the 'hOw did Arimah have kids in the dark' question IS even more CONFUSING now JEJE.
The dancing in this is absolutely laughable I'm sorry. The slider and the lamps looked so funny, and life is looking up was,, what. BUT THAT TALL MAN WITH THE KINGER GOLD STRAINS AROUND HIS WAIST ABSOLUTELY VIBED AND HE WAS MY FAVORITE PART OF THIS WHOLE MUSICAL.
The set was literally an empty ass stage with some paper mache rocks on it. They had bubble machines going backstage and the bubbles didn't get even CLOSE TO THE MIDDLE AND IT LOOKED SO STUPID. also the lamps being these balls with Christmas lights in it and having Arimah just THROW THEM IN THE GROUND AND JUST, SIT STILL ON LOOKS SO FUCKIN FUNNY. IM SORRY THIS SET IS JUST whAT. Like later they still add like columns and plants or something but it looks so empty this stage is huge.
TOba in this is honestly one step closer to my dream Toba. This one clearly takes the same goat/ sayter inspiration from the puppet show that I do but ngl, her costumes the best. The horns look cute, the colors and having more green looks good! Her singing could've been better but she obviously tried and was definitely my favorite actually character. Also I know Toba is angry with Arimah but some people are just SO VIOLENT TO THE POINT THEY SOUND SO DUMB WHEN THEY SING just like kick it down a notch for the sake of this being a musical and you could sing better.
A complaint I have in none of the other productions yet is the TRACK.
At the end Toba the tura they loop the begining of the song for the narrator and it's so obvious it's annoying. Also, they had a part where they slowed down the music during more narration and it sounded TERRIFYING LMAO. Like I get all they have is those tracks to work with but like, LMAOOOO MOM PICK ME UP.
Who are the girls in Meet the king I literally don't understand why they- I.
Favorite character
Toba
Least favorite
Arimah
Best song:
It's true love????
Worst:
Doctor doctor probably it was really awkward.
(this was a good production ngl who ever directed it clearly had ideas but unfortunately the lack of energy from alot of the dancers and maybe buget reason it didn't really shine through.)

PRODUCTIONS REVIEW #1
Starting off with I'm pretty sure most of us fans of Razias call the BEST production (not including the puppet show only because that uses the album's vocals and not live vocals), Playhouse 22.

So first of all big props to this god damn cast because they did and absolutely amazing job with acting out their parts, even the singing, especially from Arimah, was absolutely outstanding! Also the harmonys for this is SO GOOD HOLY HELL. For just adding it in
I love the direction they took for this musical as well, very steampunk and gritty, It was very close to what I imagine Thomas Dutton wanted for this musical originally. They really were creative in the making of it.
The choreography was actually really good, I LOVED Genesis choreography so much. The people in the plastic like wraps to make the booming sounds, the walking around Arimah, it looked very cool.
The costumes though, not my favorite are interesting. My favorite costume definitely being Toba's. The armour almost like Viking/executioner loook made sense and it also was just dope looking. I didn't love all the costumes though my least favorite probably being the Narrators. I didn't quite understand what the HELL WAS GOING ON with him just dressing like a millennial.
Nidria was so amazing too I have to mention her. Her voice was just so flexible and smooth sometimes like whew girl yes.
I LOOOOVEE how when the time changes the dark gets more steampunk clothes to show their evaluation it just makes sense and it looks honestly lit af.
My all time favorite Pallis comes from this product. He looks like he should, sounds like he could, and that high note the end DAMN.
Also I know the Narrators mic was broken so I don't want to be to harsh on him cause he clearly tried his best but like, I'm so used to the calm narration I'm sorry.
Another little complaint is that the story seems to not shine through as much in this production too, this isn't a flaw with theirs really because the soundtrack is EXTREMELY VAUGE but yeah I wish the lamps where, physical in some way.
Also the actor who played the Doctor, KING KING KING DAMN.
Speaking of Kings, the king number was also a absolutely ball because of the two boys playing his servers. I LOVED THAT NUMBER SO MUCH AND ITS 80% THANKS TO THEM.
Favorite character:
The doctor - Pallis- Arimah
Least favorite: the oracles and Barayas
Best song: Genesis, meet the king
Worst:
Spider in the lamps and the oracle! LMAO
(anyways please remember this is my opinion and you may completely disagree and that's A-okay!)
This production is the most viewed one on YT (before the puppet show got taken down I'm pretty sure) and I'm glad cause that means it's what alot of people go to while probably getting I'm to this musical and it's a really good one too watch!

When I first listened to Razias I had this idea of using a projector to add color to a world of dull colors...and then I saw this production as threw it out the window.
This production isn't a, bad? It had some added diolouge which was appreciated, I always give extra points for that but, this is so, so, booortiiing to me.
I like the idea of the multimedia background but I hated the choices the picked to project. Half of the fuckin photos looked like they goggled "Dark forest" or, "sparkles", and used what came up. It could've been so cool with more almost, original prices or even prices that make more sense. Also I literally couldn't see Barayas for like his entire number cause the stage was completely dead.
The singing in this is, okay? I mean it's SOO OFF sometimes but I haven't even gotten close to the worst ones yet. I wish I had more to say but Arimah/Adakais clearly brought the most energy to his role while the others didn't as much, they clearly tried but it didn't shine through as much imo.
The costumes were, well we're getting in to "brown plants, white shirt" territory. I get that those are the only hits to what the world may feel like and its just because of the mountain on the album's cover but just maybe TRY to add a little bit more? Like not much but maybe some idk, brighter face paint, colored earrings and rings and necklaces? Just anything to draw more to the appeal.
Meet the king was weird, I really don't understand why you would add a queen if she added ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THE PLOT OR THE SONG. SHE DIDN'T EVEN ADD HARMONYS SO LITERALLY WHY IS SHE HERE? DID YOU HAVE ONE EXTRA CAST MEMBER HUH. Also why did the king leave halfway in to the number, is he just gonna leave them on read like that.
Uh, I'm surprised that any jokes landed for this musical but actually, they weren't bad. Not as good as playhouses kings servents but it was okay!
The narrator looks like a millennial again and he's in khakis again and I hate.
Sorry but also another dumbass pet peeve but the narrator had a FAT ASS BOOOK for never looking at it.
The projections in the back of the actors faces could've been cool and I like that that's how they split up the echos but it was also Terrifying at times LMAO
Favorite song:
It's true love,The holy sea
Worst:
Meet the king, Genisis
Best character
Arimah Adakais,
Worst
Ngl like everyone else, they did their best though!
(I'm not saying the people didn't try with these reviews I'm just pointing out some things I like and these are my personal opinions!)
I wish the Joe's pub version of Razias left in the NARRATION SO MUCH. Cause like I want to know EVERY WORD.
