Yes, We Still Take Field Trips
Shoutout to Alex Therrien for coordinating an incredible Leftovers’ field trip to Gee’s Bend and Thomaston, Alabama!
Gee’s Bend, also known as Boykin, Alabama, is home to the Gee’s Bend Quilter’s Collective, which is a group of remarkable women who create bold and beautiful works of art through the craft of quilting by hand. We are lucky to have been able to meet just a few of the women who make up the Collective.
Thomaston, Alabama’s Rural Heritage Center houses a community center, gift shop, restaurant, and performance space for the town. This project’s second phase was completed in 2004, and it continues to be a vibrant piece of Thomaston’s community.
