Fire-Scorched Souls
Holding her stag in front of her, cradled between her two palms, the girl gazed up at the lady curiously. There were so many across the land that she had heard tales of, but never met. She did not anticipate they would respond well to her, given who her father had been and the evidence of her sickness from years before... but she could hope...
Though, even that seemed naive and... foolish now.
Hope and faith in another... could burn and cause no end of grief.
“Hello.” She dipped her head respectfully to the woman. Stannis had alienated many with his actions, and she could not afford to do the same. Not for anything as grand as the Throne, but for survival; for her mother, and the men around them both.
It was her responsibility, her duty.
“I am Shireen Baratheon, daughter of Selyse Baratheon.” She would need to practice saying her father’s name without the wave of pain that washed over her face, but knew better than to try to do so yet. The girl was aware it was beyond her for now...
“Who are you?” she asked politely, an attempt at a smile on her face despite the sadness burning in her heart and glowing in her eyes.
