prefuse 73 - thorough light
during my lifted bike ride through the unexplored areas of my neighborhood tonight, i made a playlist that combined prefuse 73 (guillermo scott herren)'s 2007 releases, preparations & interregnums; a standard lp of his, along with an accompanying disk of orchestral arrangements. every track that came on was intriguingly lush and entrancing in its own way, but this one in particular, clearly off the classical album, really resonated with me. the guy reviewing them on pitchfork didn't seem to think too highly of prefuse's efforts, but i feel like the music presents a distinct standard of maturity and intellectual merit, significant elements of IDM and art as a whole, that most other musicians aspire (at best) to capture. creations like these are perfectly demonstrative of why he's such a capable glitch-hop dj, and served to illuminate my journey tonight and expand my physiological consciousness.
