Luka
luka is especially a heinous existence in my opinion, don’t get me wrong i adore his complexity.
but something about him is so so off, something sets ablaze all the alarms, to exist as an object, to be so deprived of will and want.
everything he does is an act, manipulation because that’s all he knows.
you can’t fault a child for the way he was nurtured, you can’t fault a child for coping in the only way he knows how, survival was imperative, love was secondary.
and yet, despite all the odds, all the cruelties, he found love in hyuna.
the thing with hyunwoo being so ambiguous is brilliantly done, we don’t know what happened, but we do see that luka has no value of life, he see hyuna and smiles because to him death doesn’t really mean anything.
seeing his clones, trying to free them only to inadvertently kill them himself? and at such a young age? only to see them made again like their death was inconsequential at best and a slight inconvenience at worst?
and we know there’s more clones thanks to the newest comics from vivinos, the alien in the interview blatantly speaks of creating life using real human tissue, the billboard in karma displaying “Luka is Back”
all that time recovering from the rebel attack was most likely spent in a pod getting taken out to be stitched back together like some fucked up doll, all the while knowing that hyuna is dead, that the only person he remotely considered real, that he somehow valued is gone, and very much because of him.
how do you even begin to live with that? not that he was ever alive from the start.
what a sad sad child, what a sad sad adult.
