Okay so today at work a guy came into the library looking absolutely manic. He was pacing, clearly a mess, and Not Okay™. I ask him if I can help him with anything, but all he does is lean his head down on the circulation desk, groan as dramatically as possible, and then begins ranting about this girl in his class that he likes. Apparently he’s had a crush on her FOREVER but can’t ask her out for Reasons™ which is eating him up inside. How can she not see that he’s in love with her? Isn’t it obvious, he asks me?

I just kinda look him up and down, not knowing what to say because I’ve seen this guy a total of five times in my life, and never have we spoken more than two words to each other before now. He’s clearly looking for advice so I kinda say something vague and mildly comforting, hoping that he’ll just...you know...go.

He listens to me for a little bit before getting all teary-eyed, and then with a nod just leaves the library without another word, mumbling about said girl in his class.

Guys...I think I just met Georgi Popovich in the flesh.
