   “I just-” What is he meant to say here? Why can’t she just accept his stupid apology? He means every word of it. “I feel-” it’s important to use feeling words, and to make sure he was focused on himself and not what he thought other people were thinking, “that I could have done more. I didn’t even move.” And it’s haunted him ever since.

    “It’s a long story,” he says and it’s clear from his tone and his posture that it isn’t something he wants to talk about. But he does get the strangest feeling that he might not get a say in the matter.

    “Don’t look at me like that.” Like what? You may well ask. It’s not even so much a look as it is a weird vibe that he’s feeling, though that might just have been the gas station lunch he ate. Apparently even werewolf healing couldn’t work miracles.

    He’s torn between the idea that this is some sort of trick, or just some really vivid dream. If it’s the latter, he doesn’t want to wake up. If it’s the former...well, he’s still a little sketchy on letting even the illusion of her go. His throat closes up, making it difficult to speak. “Are you really here?” he croaks, unsure and scared that he’s going to break the spell just be speaking those words. But some part of him has to know.
