Cairis generally worked in small, out of the way areas when she was aboard battle cruisers.
For the most part: she was left alone. She was recognized as a civilian Empire employee that handled sensitive information.
That was usually on ships she'd been on several times before.
New ships, well... they came with their own problems: like bored grunts who thought snagging her camera drones and playing "Keep Away" with them was a hilarious idea.
Naturally, the drones were roughed up to the point their fan blades broke and the focusing lenses no longer functioned. They were returned to her with grimaces after the duty officer bawled them out and told them that replacements would be coming out of their GAC packets.
"No need to replace 'em, though," said one of the foot soldiers. "We've got an engineer aboard that can fix just about anything. You can find him down that section."
"What's his name?" she asked, her voice curt with irritation.
"Kusa. You can't miss him - he has a tail."
