You are the company you keep. It was a statement she stood by especially in the industry she was so fortunate to make a living in. Who you choose to marry, who you choose in your wedding party, and even the family members you invite can indicate someone’s values and personality. It was why before making any aesthetic decisions regarding the wedding Brooklyn did two things: she asked the bride and groom their wishes, but more importantly met and got to know the best man and maid of honor.
She’d met with hundreds of wedding party representatives and some interactions were successful while others ended in disaster. It wasn’t like Brooke to typically mix business with pleasure, but as the opportunity arises when someone from the party asks her out on a date, she found it difficult to say no. After the last time when the breakup ended really messy and she cried herself to sleep for two weeks straight, she swore that part of her life was over.
Brooke made her way down the hallway with confidence and ease, heels clicking against the vinyl flooring, greeting every associate that crossed her path. Surrounded by floral arrangements, tulle, and the smell of bergamot and vanilla in the air. She loved her job.
“You must be my 10 o’clock,” she said as she burst through her office door to see a male’s silhouette sitting in the light blue velvet barrel chair on the opposite side of her desk. Brooke approached him with an extended hand and welcoming grin before settling in the seat beside him. She always found it more comfortable sitting next to someone in conversation rather than across. “You’re Seth Wilkins, right? I'm Brooklyn Maeng, the wedding planner. I’ve heard great things about you from Jamie and Norah. You must be so thrilled for them. What a beautiful story.”
