@nvnchalants​ // Like the tide to the shore, the universe always pulled the twins back to each other and, apparently, the cape. Not that Cara had any idea. Today was just another Monday for her, running around with errands on a rare day she wasn’t on set. Her cart hummed, all rhythm no tune, as she bussed her groceries to her car, eager to get on to the next thing. But lo and behold...once she got to her car, she realized she’d locked her keys in. “Oh no!” she cried, face smushed sadly against the glass.

It had been one week after the incidents and chaos still overpowered everyone. Walking down a street was far more difficult now and helping others was completely forbidden and it wasn’t like Alex would go leap blindly into a place to safe someone. It was a selfish way of thinking, but she had learned that nothing was gained from helping a random person not without losing something first. But sometimes despite the selfishness and the rules established in order to protect the civilization, there was some part in her. Maybe the rational part or just the part that made her human - that had Alexis doing the very thing she promised herself she wouldn’t do. In this case, helping others.

Even though days had passed since the incident and everyone was sure there were no more victims or people trapped within the ruins of the hospitals and the monorail, but there is. She was sure of that and she didn’t need anyone telling her different or telling her so because she just knew.  She’d helped a kid before near the monorail ruins and now here she was within what was left of the hospital and the police station. Making her way through the ruins to help yet another person who was there. The real question in all of this wasn’t if there were any survivors at all but how had they survived for so long? How did they survived these days stuck in this place waiting for someone to come help them while slowly realizing that no one eventually would? Those were the questions that Alex wanted an answer to but wouldn’t get from anyone, not here and now for sure.

She was making her ways out of the ruins - which seemly proved to be a rather difficult task - when she spotted a familiar face within the near crowd, Cara. The person Alexis had just helped was luckily enough in not such a bad shape that she simply let them go off on their own while her attention turned towards the clone. Alexis might have been angry; furious to an unbelievable degree when learning about the woman’s real identity but that never meant she cared any less for them. Closing the distance between the clone and herself - a rather short one - then the woman allowed her eyes to wander over the other, looking for possible injuries or cuts. Not like the clone would have any, she was made to resist any type of wound if they were to ever be injured. But it didn’t mean Alexis wasn’t worried. “ Hey - -- you’re alright? ”

The Last Thing On Your Mind

It was a day like any other. Sunny and warm - turning cold as the time passed but you could still feel the warmth of the sun on your skins. It was those types of days, her favorites. But for some reason Alex couldn't bring herself to feel enthusiastic about it in any way. Coming to think about it, Alex was finding it hard to feel happy or enjoy anything lately. Maybe it was the fear of getting caught by the same people that had killed her parents or maybe it was because she missed them... She missed her friends and her dad and everyone. And it was becoming harder and harder to just pretend nothing had happen, that no one had died and no one had gotten hurt and just continue with her life.

In moments like these it was when she regretted lying to Jake and not telling him to come with her. But Alex knew it was better that way. But with him being the only person in her life that was still alive, it made her feel selfish, she wanted to be selfish and bring him here with her - to not be alone. But despite everything, Alexis wouldn't go that far. Not when it would put his life in danger. She had been so deep in her thoughts then that she hadn't the familiar face on the crowd as she wandered around. And it wasn't until she almost came to crashing into them, that she noticed. It had been as if almost her own feet carried her here - right in front of the girl but that was almost impossible. Right?

Alexis features broke into a small smile once she recognized who the person was. They hadn't know each other for long but by the small time they've spent together before Alex decided she liked her and trusted her. Cara seemed to be nice and a great person to be friends with. Which almost scared her to a point - how close could she get to the other before she had to run away so the other girl wouldn't get hurt too? The smile that had graced her lips moments ago faded within an instant - yet Alexis stayed there, in front of the other for a longer second than she should have. And while part of her wanted to turn around and leave; her feet wouldn't move and she simply seemed to be glued to the place; looking like an idiot. After some time she decided to speak. Might as well do so instead of looking like some freak. “ Why does it seem like you're always right where I am? ” The words left her lips before she could think them over and for a second she wanted to punch herself.
