Catalyst || Cassim & Lottie
Oh, how darling this country was! This could possibly be one of her favorite places she’s ever travelled to! What was it called? Agabah? Ageabah? No, neither of those were right...it started with an a...Agrabah! That’s it! I really need to write that down...
Lottie walked the streets of the bazaar, taking in all the sights and smells of the new nation. Her father, bless his heart, had advised against her travelling, but she wanted to! She wanted to see more than just New Orleans! Maybe she’d even find a prince! Who knows!
But her father had every right to be concerned; he had read about the raids on rich families in the area, and a foreign girl with little travel knowledge would be an easy target for the band of thieves.
Lottie didn’t hear a damn word.
And so, here she was, in the middle of a country she didn’t even speak the language of (thankfully others spoke English and could translate for her), buying a necklace that could put the Louisiana Purchase to shame. To most people walking down the streets of the market, they wouldn’t have given it a second thought other than “that girl has a lot of money”. And most people in the area were normal people: kind, polite, if not wary of strangers, but who isn’t? Most people were good.
Some people, however, were not so good. Some people had taken more than just a little amount of shock at the amount of money Lottie had just spent. Some people realized that she must have a rich daddy, a very rich daddy. Some people figured out she was traveling by herself. Some people figured out that she was young, just barely 18.
An easy target for the band of thieves.
But to Lottie? All these people were kind and good! Not once since she had been there had she felt unsafe. With the new necklace around her neck and a bright smile on her face as she stopped at a fruit stand, she unknowingly marked herself to everyone in the band that she was their target.
