Rafferty had the night off. Raff had the night off because their stupid, shit for brains boss had decided that nobody was allowed to work tonight’s shift if they weren’t in costume. So, naturally, the bastard refused to work meaning that Kian had been lumped with the working on one of the most insufferable nights of the year. And, as a rule, Kian McGrath didn’t do Halloween. Fancy dress and costume parties were Luca’s territory, not his, so who could truly say why he was standing behind the bar wearing a ridiculous hat and sporting a mask?
If he had to hear one more drunken idiot quote the words Nobody has seen this face, but everyone knows this mark back at him, he’d start wishing the sword at his hip was real. He’d agreed to be Zorro solely on the basis that it was an all-black costume that required little to no effort, as well as being an outfit that partially obscured his face. If he had to look an eejit, nobody needed to recognise him.
“Christ alive, it’s a wonder you fit into those pants,” Kian quipped as Ezra approached the bar.
Brow raised, he smiled across at the other man, relieved to see a handsome face that didn’t make him want to break something. Glancing around, he huffed out a laugh, remembering his partial anonymity. Maybe there were perks to the costume after all.
“You look fuckin’ gorgeous, by the way. Have Zorro and Flynn Rider ever kissed, or would it be bold to make it a first?” He mused, leaning across the bar and feeling uncharacteristically confident.
