Lena never did this, she never rang up Leo in a state of panic because there was an emergency at work and her parents weren’t answering- she didn’t want to let herself to rely on the other the way a normal family would. Because they weren’t normal, far from it. But she couldn’t fault the other, as much as she wanted too, he was a good Dad and was there in a blink of an eye if she ever needed him too, she could see how much he loved Lyra and that scared her a little. Part of her sometimes wished that he had been a deadbeat Dad, not wanting anything to do with the child when she told them she was pregnant, but the world decided that she needed help and that Lyra needed an active Father figure. 

She unlocked the door, the sky now dark outside, toeing off her shoes at the apartment door and moving into the living room see the two together making her stomach flip uneasily at the sight, though you wouldn’t have thought that given the smile she placed on her lips. “Hey, thanks again- for this. I normally wouldn’t ask, especially last minute but-.. well.. work.”

Leo was pretty sure he was reverted back into a seven year old boy when it came to Christmas, especially the one’s in which he got to spend in his apartment and not on the road and especially this year when Ophelia stayed the night and he had her to wake up to. Or so he thought. When he saw the bed was empty and felt that her side was slightly cold he guessed she was already up, so he slipped on some sweat pants and a t-shirt before padding his was through his apartment and into his living area. “Where’s my Princess and why is she up so early? Couldn’t wait to see what Santa brought?”
