'Maeve, that man deserves to know he has a daughter. I know you want to protect her, but she needs her dad like you always needed me.'
Those were the words that kept running in Maeve's mind. That conversation with her dad will forever imprinted in her for it was their last talk before Death came for him. The veterinarian knew he was right and couldn't deny Kiera without a father anymore. Thanks to her brother being a Detective, Maeve was able to know exactly where the father resided and it became the cause to why she moved to the windy city. The moment she arrived to Chicago the blonde had a rising of both fear and anxiety in her -- threatening to drown her in it. She feared of what he would say and her mind wondered at what he would exactly do. Would he attempt in taking away her little Lucky Charm? That’s what she called Kiera and it was pure luck of Maeve becoming pregnant. The fear built more in her as she thought about the father’s line of work and was the main factor why she didn’t reach out to him when learning of her pregnancy. Maeve did what she did to PROTECT Kiera, but the blonde knew her father was right: a daughter needs her father.
When it became lunch time for the veterinarians at Paw’s Life, Maeve took a extended lunch break to go talk to him. If things went south she needed an excuse to leave and not look back. She stood before Skyfall’s Bar and found herself planted to the ground. Her body was frozen in place and honestly Maeve didn’t know what to do. She remained still even when the wind howled against her petite frame and caused a shiver to go up her spine. Scrubs can’t keep someone warm and the frozen veterinarian was living proof of that right now. She gripped the bag she had around her shoulder and her knuckles whitened from this action. As she did so the woman felt someone almost jam into her arm pit and breaks her gaze from the bar to look down: it was Kiera’s scrapbook. Maeve’s heart ached at seeing it. She was conflicted at what to do. Part of her wanted to be selfish like she has been these last few years and TURN BACK, but the morals she had due to her lineage wanted her to stand and face it -- continue being the daughter to be proud of to her deceased father. Taking a deep breath and looking forward the woman somehow found the strength in her to unplant her feet and move.
Entering the building and taking the elevator to the floor the receptionist said a certain man would be on. As she stood in the metal confined of the elevator the blonde closed her eyes and could feel hear heart beating rapidly into her ears. “Please don’t be there.” the blonde chewed at her bottom lip and leaned against the wall. A soft ding echoed into the elevator, startling Maeve and causing her to pry away from the wall with her eyes shot open. Her heart dropped to the bottom of her heart as the doors opened to reveal the bar. The blonde avoided eye contact with anyone in there and did her best to find him. She knew she stuck out like a soar thumb dressed in scrubs, but she didn’t care. All she cared about was HIM.
Seeing the back of a familiar head Maeve once again froze in place and gripped her bag once again. “Ola Lorenzo.” She spoke in gaeilge; she refused to speak in Italian despite it being their thing, but that was the past and this is now. “Is there somewhere you and I can talk?”
