now that the grotto was starting to become a staple within the gloam market, ariel couldn't help but start to think of ways that she could expand her business. it didn't take long to discover the similarities between her shop and gideon's, so here she was scoping out the place. it was no question that expanding the business, for ariel, meant collaborating with another.

red walls lined with old books outshone the cake displays at first, but once the mermaid took a closer look inside, she realized they were the most beautiful cakes she had ever seen. while the bottom row displayed entire round cakes marked at quite the expense, the top row had pastries, tarts, and cupcakes. she grinned.

however, before rushing to the cashier to talk logistics, ariel felt it might be best practice to get the opinions of consumers before rushing off to do something as crucial as collaborate. of course, she could sample the treats herself as well. she'd do both! after quickly going through the line and ordering a coconut cupcake, she sat at the bar and smiled at the person sitting next to her. "sorry to interrupt. may i ask what you ordered? it's somehow my first time here."
