today was the day. this had to be the best day of his life and the day he’d been waiting for, for a long time. brayden was finally marrying the woman he’d always wanted. he was standing at the altar, having decided to just invite no more than ten people to watch the two of them elope. he reassured his fiance that he’d give her a bigger wedding later. he wanted to give savannah everything she wanted. his heart was racing as as the music began to play, which indicated that she was about to head his way and the moment his eyes landed on her, he immediately began to tear up and he tried his hardest to hold back the emotion but at this point, it was impossible. savannah was finally becoming his wife.

being a dad was everything brayden had hoped for. of course, it’d only been a couple of days and he was certainly exhausted but he couldn’t remember a time when he was as happy as he was now that he had his family. this was everything he wanted and more. he had gotten up earlier than savannah and tucker was the first one to let him know he was up. taking the baby into his arms, he took him downstair and prepared one of the bottles she’d pumped for him before taking a seat on the couch with a tired smile stretched across his face. “g’morning,” he breathed out as he noticed his wife with the other twin. “is she ready to eat too?”

the last thing brayden wanted to worry savannah with was the injury he’d received out on the field during the came the night before. the other player had taken a cheap shot, which ultimately caused brayden to end up in the hospital getting stitches. he knew his face didn’t look great and their parents would both be there for thanksgiving. holiday pictures for their first thanksgiving as a married couple was out of the question. he walked into their shared home and into the kitchen where she was, unsurprisingly, making dinner. savannah was like clockwork, that’s for sure. his arms snaked around her waist, trying to prolong the inevitable. “dinner smells good.”

“-alright, baby.” brayden started as he unbuckled his seatbelt and looked over at savannah. “are you ready to go inside?” this was going to confirm big news for them both and he was excited for their future together. honestly, why wouldn’t he be? he’d wanted savannah for as long as he could remember and she was finally his. brayden’s hand found hers and he squeezed it, “no matter what, it’s me and you. i’m not going anywhere.” he promised before climbing out of the car and going to her side to open up her own door for her. “have you mentioned this to your parents?”

the last thing that brayden remembered was the impact of the tackle on the field. they were playing for the championship and they were winning, and he’d probably gotten too cocky. that wasn’t really surprising though. there was something about the crowd and his position on the team that boosted his confidence and gave him a big head. so while he should have been focused on who was running toward him, he was more focused on trying to impress the crowd and that put in him the hospital with a pretty knarly shoulder and head injury despite his football gear. he was laying in the hospital bed when the sound of someone walking in caught his attention, his opening to see who. he assumed it would’ve been a nurse, a doctor, or a team mate but nothing preparred him to see his ex girlfriend standing there. “what are you doing here?”

“-yeah, mom. i know, i know,” he spoke into the phone as he walked into his shared home and closed the door behind him, dropping his gym bag by the door as he walked through the house to search for his fiance, “alright. i won’t screw things up this time. i do love her and i do plan on making things work.” he reassured, finally finding savannah and wrapping his arm around her from behind. he pressed his face into her neck, “okay, well i gotta go. alright, yeah. love you too.” he finished and hung up the phone, his chin shifting to rest on her shoulder. “my mom was just giving me a lecture on how i better not let you go.” he chuckled and pressed a kiss to her cheek. “how was your day?”

one thing about brayden was that he was a relatively jealous guy and it was no surprise to him that a couple of his teammates wanted what he had. “hey,” he started, furrowing his brows as his arm came around his girlfriend, “watch your mouth. she’s my girl and i’m not gonna stand for the shit.” he could feel the tension rising and regardless of that, he didn’t stand down. “i think she deserves an apology, like now.”

brayden was at home waiting for sage. she’d mentioned coming over and wanting to talk to him and he was admittedly a little nervous, even if he would never show it. it was just usually when someone wanted to talk then they wanted to talk about something serious and he couldn’t help himself from coming up with random scenarios or reasons in his head as to what would happen or why she would break up with him. hearing her soft knock at the door caused him to get up and carry himself over to the door, an immediate smile coming over his face as he saw her. “hey, babygirl. come in.” he welcomed, his hand finding hers to pull her toward him.
