A Pair of Palace Pals // Vanellope and Iago
Vanellope threw back her head and laughed - “That was - “ and then she saw the shocked and affronted candy people and laughed harder. Eventually she calmed down into the occasional titter. “The bird’s right.” She slammed a small hand on the table, which made the programmers jump in alarm. “Have it start at the top o’the highest tower and end in t’throne room.” One of them slumped forward and knocked over a cup of jelly beans, snoring. “You don’t have to do it today,” The girl continued sweetly. “Just…before the end of the month.” A Baroness with a big doughnut skirt began to speak up before casting one more eye at the bird on her president’s shoulder and falling back. “DISMISSED!” The candy people filed out of the room, grumbling. The Oreo guards carried out the sleeping and stunned programmers. Vanellope followed after them, still holding the bird. “Hahaha - I haven’t had that much fun in ages - their faces! Ya gotta teach me how t’scare ‘em like that. Who are ya, where ya from anyway?” Sometimes the citizens of Sugar Rush were a little too uptight for her - they needed a bit of rattling.
All the grumbling among the candy-staff made Iago shift from foot-to-foot in excitement, always more than happy to stir up a little trouble.
“Ya wanna scare big-wigs like that, kid? Just make real big, real loud suggestions all day that cost serious cash, and they’ll go pale as a powdered donut before you can say ‘too easy’!”
Iago held a wing down from the little girl’s shoulder, opening it up to her with fanned-out feathers, like a hand awaiting a handshake.
“The names Iago -- I’m a little bit of a celebrity back where I come from. They can’t get enough of me back home in Agrabah! What about you, kid? You ain’t half the size of the last tyrant I met!”
