Soul-piercing Fangs || Clair &. Morty
Why did he even decide to go out of Ecruteak in first place? The night was about to cover the sky, and the cold weather wouldn’t be kind to a traveler. He looked back. At this point, only the giant tower could be seen rising from the woods, softly swaying from one way to another as the autumn wind attempted to make it bow. But the towers resistance is outstanding, and as the gym leader of such an emblematic city, he has the responsibility to show the same strength.
The bike is dangerous during the night, specially with such a rocky trail. Walking would take way longer, but at least he would arrive to Blackthorn City in one piece. The continuous caves he encountered at Route 42 no longer scared him. In fact, he embraced the darkness and the constant plopping of water. He pulled his scarf up. The windy currents brought a freezing sensation, that not even the cold-handed leader enjoyed. His Pokemon, though, seemed quite delighted with the grim scenery.
MAHOGANY TOWN [ 12:03 a.m. ]
Morty decides to rest at the local Pokemon Center. It isn’t very full, for every traveler has headed home for the upcoming Holidays. Ugh, Christmas. The simple idea of it caused a sick sensation in his stomach. As every other person with no family, the holiday was mostly a bitter experience, a constant rush of quiet jealousy upon seeing all the families and friends reunited. HE WAS ALONE.
After an hour or so, he decides to continue. Nurse Joy insists that he spends the night there, but he doesn’t want to. There’s nothing for him at Mahogany Town. Then she proceeds to call Pryce, hoping he will knock some sense into the younger gym leader, but when she’s done with the call, he’s already far and gone.
3 a.m. and Morty finally reaches Blackthorn City. His feet, cold and numb, drag him to the gym. That HUGE construction that towers him like a monster... like the monsters it holds. Nothing but respect is what Morty has always felt for the dragon masters and their home. His hand hovers as he is about to knock, but fails at the last second. Gengar materializes next to him with a noticeable worried expression upon his shadowy expression. Morty sighs and looks down. It wasn’t even a decent time to knock at someone’s door.
But WHAT HAPPENED? Why did he come to Clair in first place?
Why not Falkner or Whitney?
---------Because Clair is DIFFERENT. Abrasive, stubborn, energetic, too intense and fiery to handle. But she’s honest. She’s a strong pilar, she has the capability to control and understand dragons. If anyone can handle with him everything that has dragged Morty down, IT’S HER. He doesn’t mean to bother her, to wake her up after a day she probably spent training, but he NEEDS HER. He needs to talk about it ( again ). He needs to rant a little. He needs to be weak for a moment. He needs to be allowed to cry and breakdown. He needs to break the serene and calm demeanor AND BE HUMAN AT LEAST FOR ONE NIGHT.
So he finally knocks.
