So this was her? The queen herself, the so-called âbreaker of chainsâ.
Why he had come here, Shin couldnât quite put his finger on it. The likelihood being out of sheer curiosity probably wouldnât suffice as an answer. And from the looks he was given as soon as he had stepped foot in the throne room, it most certainly wasnât. That was no surprise. A stranger with pale skin and gold eyes entering the desert kingdom of Meereen? The distrust in her soldiersâ glares were justified. After all, he had no title, no money, no home; nothing, but the clothes on his back and the abilities he was born with.
As soon as he had gotten word that Meereen had been conquered and the slaves freed, he had made his way across the dusty roads and hot desert sun to come here and see for himself, as much of a risk as that was. Yet, they had allowed him to cross the entrance into the great city. A possible sign that he would either be welcomed or killed. Whatever that answer was, Shin didnât exactly have anything to lose; the conclusion being up to the powerful woman who sat before him.
He waits patiently for Daenerysâs personal advisor to finish her announcement, reciting numerous titles. After displaying the traditional bow of his people, Shinâs eyes lock with those of the queenâs. He quickly collects his stance, slightly wavered by her confidence gaze. Beautiful, poised, hair white and coming down her shoulders like soft, wavy silk. She had the grace of a lady of her stature but a burning fire of a fearless leader.
It irks him for some reason, a reaction he is careful enough not to show.
âQueen Daenerys, I have travelled across the desert after receiving news of your glorious conquer. I am Shin Okamoto, a wonderer from a colossal island far to the west.â He removes the hood of his tattered brown cloak, sweeping long strands of stray hair that stuck to his sweat-drenched face to reveal his uncommon features. âYou do not know me, and of course, I hardly know anything of you. My coming here may not be all that beneficial at first sight but I believe I have much to offer you. If you would do me the honor, I would be happy to explain just what that is.â
