Common area, 7:15 pm

She may have only been back at Gallagher for a couple hours but that was all it took for Lou to decide that she couldn’t take it anymore. How was she supposed to sit around with her two best friends and pretend like there wasn’t a giant elephant in the room? At least for her, she wasn’t sure if Jo knew too. “So are you gonna tell us what happened between you and Caden?” she pointedly asked Rowan, interrupting what Jo had been telling them about her dad. Lou wasn’t sure what emotion she was feeling right now; it was a mix of anger and disappointment and then hope that what Caden had not told wasn’t actually true. “Or are you just gonna lie and say that it didn’t?”

With her iPad in front of her and headphones on, Carmen was in her own world as she went through some of the ideas that she had jotted and sketched down. To others what seemed like a mess, was actually throughly organized but she had to go through it in order to decide what she was going to work on this semester. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t even notice Jo until the other girl was right in front of her. “Fuck,” she cursed in Spanish and then pulled off her headphones. “You scared me!”

It had been another long day of bootcamp and right now, with a book in his lap Alec just needed to rest and let his mind and body unwind for a few moments before preparing the both of them for another day of exhaustion all over again. Instead of taking refuge in his dorm, he had found himself in the common room and only looked up from his book when he saw a familiar head of short, dark hair head back towards the dorms. “I would avoid your room if I were you,” Alec warned Jo. “I think I saw them head towards there this time instead of mine.” They both knew who them were. While Alec was happy for Dimitri, his friend’s new relationship was exhausting for him and he was sure Jo felt the same way. It was a boat that they were in together.

“So how was your summer? I feel like I never saw you,” Carmen mused as she flopped down onto the common room couch, two bags of chips form the vending machine in hand and she tossed one over to Jo. A summer in Berlin, with everyone in different hotels and groups and vacations, had meant that Carmen had barely even got to see some her friends even though they had all been working at the same agency. “You went to Budapest right?”

Lou liked to think that she knew Jo very well. And since she knew her best friend very well she knew for a fact that on her birthday, Jo would most likely want something low-key; but Lou had never been a person for anything subtle or subdued. Which was why when she burst into room 310, she practically broke the door off of its hinges with her enthusiasm! “Happy Birthday!” she exclaimed as she practically attacked Jo into a tight and fierce hug and even kissed her cheek. And then to top it off, pulling out her phone Lou started blasting 22 by Taylor Swift. “Are you feeling 22?” she asked her friend with a mischievous smile.

“I come bearing gifts!” Lou exclaimed as practically barged into Jo’s dorm, a bottle wine and a bag of chips in hand. Peeking around, she saw her friend’s roomies weren’t to be found which she was glad for. She wanted to spend time with her friend alone because they hadn’t had a chance to do so in a while. “And please tell me that you don’t have plans with Mari or anything!” She collapsed onto Jo’s bed with a huff and then beamed up at her. “Hello darling.”

“Someone must have pissed in Professor Hamilton’s gravy this Thanksgiving,” Lou groaned as she lowered her body into the spa’s hot tub with Jo and Rowan besides her. Her aching muscles sighed in relief as they were surrounded by hot water and massaging jets. “I mean I get that the semester is gonna finish up soon and they need to push us but come on, you guys have to admit that he was in some type of mood and took it out on us.”

“We have an emergency,” Lou practically shouted without any hesitation as she barreled into her dorm and flopped herself down onto Jo’s bed. “Like full on Code Black here at Gallagher emergency!” She could have a bit of a flair for the dramatics every now and then, especially when there were tall Russians involved.
