Lost

Lily had left earlier in the afternoon, knowing that Lei could close up the gallery with no problems. If anything came up, Lei had Lily’s cell phone. There was little worry. It was an arrangement that the two women had made many times before. This also allow Leiella the freedom to set up for the finals show for her students. It was coming up the following week before the winter breaks began.
She had closed up just after seven, grabbing her messenger bag and heading out. The city was gearing up for the holidays. Everything was already decked in lights and Christmas trees, with a hint of snow in the air. Leiella had grown to love the seasons that New York City had over her home back in California. That was why she still called the City home most of the year.
The music blasting through her earbuds had her bopping her head to the beat, so it took her a moment to realize that someone had said something to her. “It’s easy to get lost in this mess. Where were you trying to find?” She asked, pulling out her earbuds so that she could hear the other. “Especially, this time of year…” Her voice trailed off as she got a look at the other person. “..are you okay?”
♔—- To say that the transition from Asgardian dungeon to standing before the All-father to being cursed to being sent back to Midgard where he would serve out the rest of his punishment in exile was jarring would have been an understatement. For years, Loki had been held in Asgard’s dungeons for his acts of war against Midgard. The dungeons were starch white, enough to make you feel like you were going blind. They were also stale and boring. Loki could only entertain himself with his own illusions, otherwise he’d go mad from boredom.
He often felt death would have been kinder than spending thousands of years in that damned dungeon. Sooner or later, he would lose what bit of sanity he had left.
But his punishment changes. Now, instead of serving the rest of his life in prison, he was sent into exile with a curse placed upon him, trapping his magic inside of his body so he couldn’t use it. If he tried, he could not only hurt himself but risk potential death. Where they sent him, he didn’t know. The Bifrost opened up in a field that stretched on for miles and miles and he couldn’t decern much of anything.
By the time he finally found some form of civilization, night set in, surrounding him with darkness and the eerie glow of overhead street lamps. Fortunately, he was able to find one woman and she was kind enough to stop and ask him if he needed help. “I don’t know,” he admitted sheepishly. “I don’t know where I am or where I’m going, I just... Can you tell me where I am?” Her last question caught him by surprise but he figured he must have looked like a mess. “Uhm... No, no, not really.”
