Starter for: Tiberius McLaggen @tiberiusxmclaggen Where: Gringotts Wizarding Bank When: early morning
Though their last encounter was brief, it served its purpose. Rabastan had concluded that Tiberius would not be easily manipulated. Perhaps with time a relationship could be fostered and more trust gained. But despite being patient, he lacked willingness for such a long-winded process. The Dark Lord wanted results, and he wanted them soon. It made no sense to linger when there were alternative methods that could be implemented; ones that would permit more control over the situation. So Rabastan had employed a last thread of patience, observing Tiberius's movements for a while longer that night, before cornering him and placing a false memory: one that transformed their meeting from vaguely hostile to more optimistic. In this fictitious realm, Rabastan had offered assistance with making investments at Gringotts. They had discussed gold, after all - and the best lies were constructed from facts.
So here they stood in the middle of the marble foyer, at the time and on the date that Rabastan had planted into the other wizard's mind like a poisoned thorn. He decided not to appear too friendly. There was no need to push suspicion to its limits; a polite acquaintance was more than enough to achieve what he needed. It was not all doom and gloom, either. Tiberius might actually earn some gold from the deceit.
"Good morning, McLaggen." With a fleeting smile, he approached and shook the other man's hand. "Thank you for coming so early. It's better at this time while the goblins aren't too busy." Gesturing to the counter, he indicated a surly looking goblin sporting spectacles that were far too big for his head. "That is Grodbik. I will introduce you. He's handled my affairs for years."
