The city they had stopped in was abuzz with life and music, bright banners and paper lanterns adorning the streets. They had arrived in the midst of some sort of festival, though the holiday wasn’t one Melissa was familiar with. The Wyvern would be docked here overnight to resupply, providing many of the crew with a much-needed chance to relax and enjoy the festivities.
Melissa was amazed by it all, the unfamiliar sights and smells, the food and costumes. She had been wandering the bustling streets with Logan, following the sound of music from a few blocks down. There, in a small park beside fountains and patches of exotic flowers, a little group of musiciansplayed for a laughing and swaying crowd. The music was upbeat at first, lively and celebratory, but as they approached the song ended and another began, soft and sweet, hauntingly beautiful.
Melissa paused there, taking it all in - the music, the garden at sunset, the utter joy of the festivities around them. On an evening like this, it was easy to forget the troubles of the past few weeks, to let go of fears and worries just for a little while.
She was smiling as she wrapped her hand around Logan’s, tugging him gently towards the open grassy area ahead of them.
