Extra Help
"Eun Ji, are you even paying attention?"
The brunette looked up suddenly, towards the professor that was speaking to her. She nodded hastily, answering with a polite "Yes, Professor" as she did so. Of course, she really wasn't at the time, because she was too busy looking at what Nari was doing. But she couldn't tell her professor that, and there was no way that her professor would believe her anyway. Really it was just the price to pay when one has an imaginary friend.
Maybe imaginary to everyone else, but certainly not to Eun Ji.
No, she could definitely see her oldest and most dearest friend. Nari was what she was called, and honestly it was a really good name. It was short, sweet, and to the point, just like the girl whose name it belonged to. Eun Ji didn't know what she would do without Nari, for she was there with her throughout most of her life, ever since she could remember.
And now she was there again, in class with her, trying to get the answers from one of her other classmates to help her study for the upcoming exam. It never failed, and it was something that the two had done all throughout Eun Ji's school career. If there was something that she wasn't understanding quite well, no matter how much she did the homework or read from the textbook, Nari was there to help her get through it. That's how she became fluent in Japanese, even though she would never tell her parents that. And Nari was there again to help her get through this psychology class.
"If you were paying attention, then you don't mind telling me the five Freudian stages that we were just discussing." Her professor was calling her out in the middle of class, and while a part of her knew some of the answer, she still couldn't for the life of her remember the fourth stage.
"Alright." She paused, taking a deep breath. "There's the oral stage, anal stage, phallic stage, genital stage...." She veered off, waiting for a signal from Nari. She never could remember that fourth one, and hopefully she would be able to catch the signal from her best and most trusted friend to help her save face in front of the rest of the class.
