FLASHBACK
with her obsessive nature, everything had to be perfect for the night ahead. it was their anniversary, a special ocassion that akari wanted to make memorable for minjoon. she had recalled his favorite dish many times over, pouring over videos and online instructions for weeks. the redhead wasn't much of a cook, not a great one anyway. her mother had always set the table and akari had only helped on the rare select moment to peel a vegetable or slice something.
both her hands were on her cheeks, elbows leaning on the countertop of her parent's home. she had invited minjoon over since she could use their kitchen and her parents were out of town for the week. it gave them the perfect time alone and away from campus, other friends, other priorities.
this is not when you start thinking about studies, damn it.
dwelling on the perfectionism, akari began working on the dakdoritang he always seemed to talk about. she hoped that this gesture would mean something to minjoon, something more, especially since their relationship could sometimes hit like a tornado. turning to the pot, she grimaced and prayed to whatever higher being there was that it would come out right.
chopping all the veggies was simple, cooking the chicken? not so much. beads of sweat collected on her forehead from the stress, her heart racing frantically almost because it was burning. as her whiskey hues glanced to the clock, the redhead knew her boyfriend would arrive in about fifteen minutes and the dinner was nowhere near finished, nor was it edible at this point. "he's gonna hate this."
pacing in the kitchen, akari wrung her hands nervously and began to think. "come on, it's still salvageable, right? maybe, maybe it's not that bad." talking aloud to herself, she was wasting time.
