for the most part, dax thought he could handle everything that was being thrown his way. titanium were finished promoting their debut and were working on a comeback, he was starting to prepare for promotions with promo, he was in variety shows and he was film. he thought that after training for so long that he would be ready to take on any and all challenges that came with the idol life. dax thought he would be indestructible; he didn’t go through so many years of waiting to get to a point where he felt overworked. every new things that midas pushed onto him or that he pushed himself into was making up for all the years he spent just sitting by, waiting for opportunities.
that wasn’t case anymore.
he was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. it felt like he was running a bit thin and his idol life had barely even started. logically, dax knew that he had to suffer through these years before he could become a superstar. he knew that it wasn't going to happen overnight and he could slack off like some of the senior idols were able to do once they became mega stars. he knew he was no where near that. but damn, he had to keep reminding himself to drink water and eat food that didn't come from the convenience store. dax was starting to feel old. and what does he do when he's feeling any sort of stress, discomfort, or just bored in general? drink heavily.
whiskey was his friend for the evening, the slightest splash of coke in his glass to mask a bit of the flavor of the alcohol. with his bottle full of his drink, dax found himself wandering around midas, looking at pictures on the walls and awards in cases, listening to the sounds bleeding out from practice rooms. he wasn't drunk yet. dax had been drinking far too long and far too much to let a few drinks bring him to a point of inebriation. sometimes he would actually get frustrated with his own tolerance; some people could have a few shots and be off their head, but dax had to suffer through waiting for his drinks to kick in and deal with the people around him who were already drunk. when he was a poor trainee, it was even worse. he couldn't afford anything fancy and even now he wasn't exactly making enough money to buy rounds of drinks for random strangers, but he was able to have a good time without wondering if he would break the bank.
as he meandered around the midas halls, he glanced into one of the rooms, surprised to see san in one of the practice areas. he was at a point in his night where drinking alone wasn't fun anymore and he wanted someone to keep him company, so it was lucky he ran into san then. without bothering to wait for the other man to finish whatever part of the song he was at, dax opened the door and leaned against the door frame, taking a swig from his water (now whiskey) bottle. "hey superstar!" dax yelled over the music, a smirk on his face. "why are you practicing so hard? i'm exhausted just fucking looking at you." he held his bottle up in the air and shook it around, hoping to entice san into cutting his practice short. "i have better plans for this evening."
