Turmoil.
INVOLVED: Mia Blackwell and Tyler Blackwell. TIME FRAME: Saturday, July 15th, 2017. LOCATION: Blackwell Residence; Miami, Florida. NOTES: Mia tells Tyler she was fired.
Tyler wheeled himself into the kitchen and over to the fridge. Putting the brake on, he opened the fridge and pulled out a carton of orange juice, before sitting it in his lap, and taking the brake off. He wheeled over to the counter and grabbed a glass before carefully pouring himself some. With a small huff, he sat the glass on the counter before he wheeled back over to the fridge and returned the carton. Wheeling back to the counter, he placed the brake on and sat there, drinking his juice thirstily.
Mia walked out of their bedroom, moving towards the kitchen and she looked to Tyler. “Hey baby” she said gently as she kissed the side of his face moving past him to fix herself some more mint flavored tea. It seemed to be the only thing to help soothe her stomach. Mia placed the kettle on the stove and she moved to grab her infuser and tea leaves before she looked back at him. “Sorry… my attitude has been horrible these last few days. And I shouldn’t have taken it out on you or the kids… or my mother” she trailed off as she rubbed her arm gently.
Tyler looked back at Mia. “Hi,” he said softly, a little shocked that she had given him a kiss on the cheek. For the last few days she had been full of rage and had been giving everyone in breathing distance a mouthful about the smallest things. He knew that she was pregnant and just didn’t know how to tell him yet, but he didn’t think that was the cause of her sudden attitude. However, whatever the reason, he was happy that she was back to normal now. As she began to fix herself tea, he turned in his chair, placing the glass on the table to get out of her way. “It’s okay…” he told her quietly.
“No, it’s not okay” Mia protested as she shook her head “it’s not okay. I am not the only one going through things and I shouldn’t take any of my problems out on anyone, especially you” she told him honestly. She licked her lips slowly before she said “I lost my job. They fired me Friday and I was so pissed because they didn’t have a fucking reason” she told him as her eyes glossed over. She cried on the way home Friday she wasn’t going to cry now even as the tear rolled down, she wiped it away quickly and folded her arms over her chest.
Tyler looked at Mia and he tucked his lips into his mouth. Since being shot, he had been much more soft spoken, so he didn’t say much as Mia spoke to him and explained the reason behind her attitude. Nodding slowly, he rolled back in his chair and put the brake on before gesturing for her to sit in his lap. “C’mere,” he told her.
Mia looked to her husband as he gestured for her to come over, she paused thinking to herself for a long while. She looked to him and then his lap before she looked to him again. Pulling her bottom lip into her mouth she moved over to him slowly. Ever since he’d come home she treated him like this fragile thing, always second guessing herself about every little thing she did with him and around him. However, she sat down on his lap and when she did the waterworks came, sniffling slightly she pushed her tears aside.
Tyler waited patiently, allowing her to take the time that she needed to finally sit down in his lap and when she did, he wrapped his arms around her, holding her to his chest. “I’m sorry baby,” he told her softly, kissing her cheek gently. “I know you really loved your job,” he said gently. “But we’re going to be alright,” he said gently.
Mia sniffled hard and she calmed herself down, wiping her tears away she nodded at him. “It’s so unfair, but it’s okay” she told him truthfully. “I loved it and now that ship has sailed” she told him with a shake of her head. “I told them” she sighed “I begged them for a little understanding because of what all is going on. But after all, me and my weight and my body is always going to be some bitches problem. It’s so annoying” she told him. “She told me I was slacking off, I don’t slack Tyler. I took my job serious. I’ve just been… tired lately. Not feeling well. I tried to make up for it” she told him. “My best wasn’t good enough…”
Tyler rubbed Mia’s back, shoulders, and arms comfortingly as she spoke and he sighed softly. “That’s alright baby, even if they don’t believe your best was enough I assure you it was and we’ll figure something out. We don’t have to worry because everything will work itself out.” He moved his hand from her arm to her stomach, just resting it there. “Now you can rest and take care of yourself until you feel better,” he told her gently.
Mia looked to her husband at his words and she nodded her head again. As he moved his hand to her stomach she felt conflicted, she wasn’t necessarily lying to him but she was withholding the truth. He was her husband and the father to her children he deserved to know she was pregnant. And she looked to him and said, “I’m not sick” with a shake of her head, Mia tossed faux locs behind her. Fingers scratching at her freshly shaven head “I’m pregnant Ty” she told him truthfully, sighing softly as she did and she closed her eyes at the thought again.
Tyler gazed at Mia as she finally revealed her pregnancy to him and he nodded slowly, resting his forehead against her shoulder. “I know,” he told her softly, rubbing her stomach gently. “And I’m happy,” he told her reassuringly.
Mia looked to her husband “happy?” Mia asked she wasn’t shocked about his comment. She knew he would be. “You don’t think we have a lot going on… maybe too much for this?” she asked him curiously.
Tyler nodded his head slowly. “Happy,” he repeated again. “At this point, I feel as if everything happens for a reason,” he told her softly. “God has a plan for our lives and he’s surely watching over us and that’s the only reason why I am alive today,” he said licking his lips. “So, I’m just waiting to see what’s in store for us and I’m not going to complain about tiny miracles that are offered to us.”
Mia looked to Tyler and he spoke and she blinked slowly, she sighed nodding her head at him as she looked away. She truly thought with the stress of it all and with Tyler’s condition, maybe it would be too much for her and she end up losing another one of their children. The thought sadden her, devastated her even and she rested her temple with his. “I don’t want anything to happen Tyler” she confessed. “I don’t want to go through that again” she told him honestly.
Tyler kissed her gently. “And you won’t,” he told her gently, giving her a light squeeze. “You’re okay Mia. We’re okay,” he whispered to her softly. “I’m in a wheelchair but I’m still able,” he told her gently. “Your mom is here and we can get through this… together.”
Mia poked her bottom lip out a bit before she said “okay” softly. “She won’t be here forever, but whatever you say” she told him closing her eyes sadly.
Tyler stroked Mia’s cheek gently, kissing her again. “I got you, baby. Trust me. I got us. You don’t have to work again a day in your life if you don’t want to because, I will take care of us.”
Mia looked to Tyler and she tucked her lips in for a moment before she smiled and she nodded her head. “Okay” she told him softly before she kissed his lips gently. Hearing her kettle Mia moved to stand up taking it off the eye. “It’s for the best anyway, you start rehabilitation soon and I wanted to be there for you and for that process. Work would’ve just kept me away” she told him. Mia moved to pour the hot water into her mug before she sat the kettle aside once more before she swirled the infuser around a bit.
Tyler smiled softly as Mia kissed him gently and he nodded, gently patting her hip as she moved to stand up. Watching her, he grabbed his glass of orange juice and sipped it down as he nodded his head. “Yeah,” he said gently. “Rehab is going to be really hard and I’d appreciate you being there.”
Mia looked to her husband “well, you aren’t in this alone” she reminded him. “It won’t be easy and hopefully having me around will give you some motivation” she smiled at him sipping the hot liquid down a bit she moved towards him. Running her fingers through his hair she kissed the top of his head.
Tyler looked at his wife, nodding slowly as he sat his glass back down on the table. “You’ll always be my motivation baby,” he told her softly as she kissed his head. He placed his hand on her hip, giving it a soft squeeze.
Mia looked to him and she blinked slowly at him “I’m sure” she added before she asked him. “Do you need anything before I go into the bedroom?” sweetly.
Tyler looked at Mia and shook his head. “No, I’m fine,” he told her.
Mia looked to her husband and she tucked her lips in nodding her head she moved to leave out of the kitchen. He could have asked her to fix his juice but he didn’t, and he seem distant not that he didn’t have the right to be. She’d been on a rampage since Friday and her hormones were completely thrown out of whack. She moved into their room anyhow and she climbed onto their bed, silently looking to the tv as she drunk her tea.
Tyler watched Mia walk out of the kitchen and he sighed softly, before he wheeled over to their pantry and grabbed a box of cereal. He wheeled over to the table and sat the box on it before he wheeled back towards the fridge and pulled out the milk.
Sipping some more of tea, getting up she sighed Mia needed a little sweetener for it. Just a little. Moving out of the room she moved into the kitchen, looking to Tyler she stood there. Slamming the cup down against the counter, she ignored the obvious chips and cracks of the ceramic mug and the tea pouring from it.
Tyler held the milk in his lap as he wheeled back to the table and he sat it down before wheeling to the counter to get a bowl from the rack of clean dishes. As Mia entered the kitchen, he looked at her, wheeling back over to the table before he heard the mug slam against the counter. He looked back at her as he sat the bowl down and hit the brake on his chair, one eyebrow rose.
“I asked you” Mia before she looked to the mug and she sighed snatching up a towel she moved to clean the mess. “I asked” she repeated looking to him.
Tyler looked back at Mia as she spoke and he sighed. “I can still do some things for myself Mia,” he told her easily as he opened the box of cereal and the bag, pouring some into his bowl.”
Mia cleaned the mess up and even tossed the broken pieces in into the trash can with a shake of her head. “No, you are just distancing yourself from me is what it is” she told him. She made sure she got rid of all the broken pieces and the spilled tea before she pushed the toy aside. “Shit” she said looking to her hand she had cut it and Mia walked away again, moving into the bedroom and then their bathroom to doctor it up.
Tyler looked at her as she cleaned up the mess and made and he pulled his bottom lip into his mouth, biting down. As she spoke he sucked in a breath and bit his tongue as he grabbed the milk and poured some into his bowl, even as Mia walked out of the kitchen. He honestly couldn’t even believe his wife.
Mia cleaned the cut with a bit of alcohol before she but a bandage on it, she rolled her eyes at herself before she tossed the tissue that she used to clean the blood up with in the trash
Tyler sat the milk down on the table and removed the brake, quickly wheeling over to the counter to get himself a spoon, before he found himself back at the table, brake back on, as he ate his breakfast in silence.
