Clara had, once upon a time, believed that her marriage was perfect. Her dedication to her medical practice and her lack of time at home led her to believe that for fifteen years - fifteen long years with the same man. Except, it didn’t really seem as though it were a waste of time until she walked into her own bedroom one Friday afternoon a bit earlier than she normally would and caught her husband with another much younger woman. It was something that felt it could only happen in movies but this wasn’t a movie, it were real life and it was a blow to her gut. Clara was anything but forgiving when it came something like this and that’s where her lawyer came into the picture. She’d very much been someone that she could lean on and she hadn’t meant to be so emotional in front of her because after all, she was a lawyer, and not a therapist but still the woman had listened regardless of that.
The two women were sitting at the bar and enjoying a couple of glasses of wine together to celebrate her divorce being finalized. A sigh left her lips and she looked over at the other, “it’s been a long year. I really never thought I’d be divorced but after all of that, it feels good. I didn’t realize how much he hated me until all of this started up but I guess divorces bring out the worst.” She paused and shook her head, raising her glass as if to make a toast. “To being a legally single woman.”
