Bruce knew the predicament the two of them were about to be in all too well. How many times had he felt the momentary lapse in vigilance--the urge to hang up the cowl--for the love of someone. He knew neither one of them could give up their other life, so he would never ask it of her. "I already don't want you to." Bruce admitted, his face lingering close by hers. "But we both know we will have to; that doesn't mean this can't work."
Diana wasn’t used to so many heartfelt, open statements from the other warrior. If anything, Bruce was usually pretty tight-lipped about his feelings, and if it weren’t for Alfred’s remarks, she might not have known he even felt a certain kind of affection for her.
The Amazon princess wanted him, too, though. There was no denying her own feelings for Bruce, and to hear everything he was saying, only made it harder not to give in. The mission would always come first, but he did have a point that Clark could defend earth for now.
“I don’t want to go either,” she whispered, finally closing the distance completely and brushing her lips against his. “I want this, Bruce,” she breathed, licking her lips and inadvertently his. “I want us.”
