Sounds of struggle, a fight-- Kara picked it up easily during what had started as a relaxing flight. Looking down and using her enhanced vision to locate the attack going on, she finally saw a redhead and a strange looking blond guy. What was wrong with his forehead?

Not bothering to think on it further, she flew down and yanked up the attacker from the girl --who was putting up one hell of a fight. Kara almost felt like she wasn’t needed, but even so, she would have intervened. It went against everything within not to respond when hearing someone in distress. 

The guy snapped very weird looking teeth at her and Kara tossed him into a nearby mausoleum wall, glancing back at the victim. “Are you okay?” When she heard the guy getting up again so easily though, she frowned and returned her focus on her adversary.

Of course Kara had known it wasn’t meant for her. There was no way her sister would send her something so...provocative. When she’d first received the picture, her eyes had somewhat bulged out and she’d repeatedly pressed the delete button (probably deleting more than just the picture) in her hurry to unsee that image. It was burned into her mind though. 

Even so, the real question remained. Who had Callie meant to send it to? If it was her ex, then she’d need a decent lecture because she’d nearly given away her secret with one drunken night’s bad decision. If it was someone else, Kara was curious to know who.

“I actually meant the sound of popcorn.” Kara should have taken into account that Oliver didn’t have her enhanced hearing and probably didn’t hear further than the immediate noises. “It’s popping in the other room...Is that weird, too?”

Kara knew how much was hanging in the balance of what would be decided in the board meeting today, and so she had felt anxious the entire time her cousin  --previously believed to be brother-- was in the room with the other board members. For hours, she kept hovering in between her desk and the copier, not really able to focus on the story she’d been working on. 

More than anything, the blonde wanted his idea to get approved, but as soon as she noticed the angry expression on his face when he came walking out, Kara knew things hadn’t gone like expected. Oh, no. 

In mere seconds, she had managed to type up and send a text, but the answer she got back wasn’t very informative. The blonde hoped he would be more forthcoming during the lunch he suggested. There wasn’t much she could do about whatever had happened in there if she didn’t have all the details. At least, judging from the smile he’d given her, he knew she was in his corner on this. To be honest, she’d always be in his corner. It was Kaleb, after all.

Kara might be terrified of losing him again, but she wouldn’t let that sentiment ruin this beautiful day. Fate had brought them together again. It had listened to her heart and mended a wound she thought could never be healed again. If anything, the blonde should be ecstatic. And part of her really was happy beyond words. But the little voice in the back of her mind reminding her of her heartbreak wouldn’t go away entirely. 

Even so, she wouldn’t let it get to her as she put a fresh cup of coffee on the counter in front of him and kissed him good morning. “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

“Danvers can!” she chimed in proudly, chuckling as she looked at her sister.

Kara straightened her back, about to move her feet back off his lap and onto the floor. Hearing the last part though, she smiled and eased back into the relaxed position. 

“I like this,” she told him happily, reaching over to the table and grabbing the plate of pot stickers, offering him one silently. “We should have more Friday nights like these.” A night of relaxing between friends, without some immense disaster hanging over the city she loved so dearly. It sounded heavenly. But then she should be careful not to jinx it. They’d only gotten past the credits anyway.
