Prom was already in full-swing. There were students everywhere, having the time of their lives, it seemed. Though, this could be partially having to do with the rumor that Patricia had heard about the punch, and not only because they were excited over the idea of dancing the night away in a crowded room full of sweaty teenagers, because it’s too hot to be that active, and not be sweating through your pretty prom outfits.
Patricia wasn’t much of a dancer, literally never having learned to do anything other than casually sway to a beat, so her prom outfit was safe, for the time being. The only sweat that she was worried about were the sweaty palms she was sporting, due to her nervousness.
No, this time it wasn’t just about the blaring music, or the amount of people, or the exorbitant amounts of laughter that’s ringing in her ears, as much as a factor as those things might be playing in the nerves. It’s the hand that’s been holding that sweaty palm of hers for most, if not all, of the night so far.
It wasn’t like it was a new thing-- the hand in her own, but there was something more special about holding that hand on prom night. She and Nemo had done things together on many occasions, and ended up holding hands in the process, sure, but there was something about holding his hand at prom. Perhaps she’d seen one too many movies with a prom scene? Proms were supposed to be special, and the fact that Nemo had asked her to go with her, rather than both of them going alone, showing up, and hanging out together anyway-- it was different. To her, at least. She couldn’t read his mind, unfortunately.
The shy smiles she’s been sending his way all night said enough, though. She felt a different spark of energy in the air, and the nerves came from the fact that she felt like maybe it was only her. She couldn’t help the flutter of eyelashes as she passed a nervous glance to the side at her prom... date? Hopefully, if he noticed the nerves, he wouldn’t mistake her feelings.
She decided to make it known--. “I’m... having a really good time.” that same shy smile from the whole night is etched on her face as she pushed some of her hair behind her ear.
