ricky hated working late. why? well, for one, he was a dad and there wasn’t anything he looked forward to more than coming home to his son. he preferred to have dinner with him and lay him down for bed. he knew that was why he hired a nanny, so that she could do those things when he couldn’t but at the same time, he hated missing those moments with his son. a sigh escaped his lips as he walked into his family home, one that his dad had passed down when ricky started his family. things obviously hadn’t gone as planned though. his fiance had run off and his son was the only kid he had in the house he’d inherited. he walked inside his house, trying to be as quiet as possible. usually, esma was still up when he got home but he didn’t want to risk waking caleb up. he set his briefcase down on the table by the door and walked further inside, his eyes landing on the woman in the kitchen. “i’m sorry.” he immediately apologized. “i hate missing bedtime. how was he today?” he asked, leaning against the counter. he really didn’t know what he’d do without his nanny and she was more than that to him, she was a friend now and someone he leaned on quite a bit. “good, i hope.”
