bianca hadn’t taken the news well. she’s gone completely ballistic and he wished it wasn’t something he needed to tell her. in fact, if they didn’t have cleo together then he wouldn’t feel the need to but he wanted her to know who was going to be around their daughter on a more regular basis. her inability to deal with the news caused her to attach roman. while, yes, he was bigger, he was also not the type of guy to lay his hands on a woman and so once he managed to get away from her, he landed himself at serena’s apartment. knocking, he pursed his lips as she answered the door. “i’m fine.” he reassured her as she noticed the bruise forming on his face.

WHO: Roman Decker. Contractor. 43-46. OPEN TO: F 30+ PLOT: he’s recently divorced and planning on spending christmas alone except your muse isn’t having it. she could invite him out, invite herself in, whatever. go wild. i’m thinking they’re best friends??

christmas was one of the only days he allowed himself off and that was mostly because he had to allow his workers the holidays off too. despite the fact that he was spending the holiday alone didn’t mean everyone else was and well, he wasn’t heartless, even if some believed he was. he was seated on the couch with, surprisingly enough, the grinch playing over the screen when he heard his doorbell. furrowing his brows, he pushed himself up and made his way to the door. “what are you doing here? i’m sure your family’s missing you.”

roman had taken a break to step outside for a smoke. it was an awful habit he’d picked up since arriving on land but it was one that helped him with the overall stress of having to protect people for a living. he wouldn’t normally pay too much attention to his surroundings while on a break, mostly because he took his breaks in the alley way but a crashing noise caught his attention, which immediately put him on high alert. the mermaid put out his smoke and went toward the noise, raising an eyebrow as he approached the other. “there a reason you’re hanging out in an alley or do you just do it for fun?”

roman knew this was a bad idea. the last thing that he needed was to get involved in something like this but god, the chemistry between the two of them was so much more compared to what he felt when he was around his wife. it was late and it was no surprise that he was holed up in his office after the sun went down. she often joined him, at least, she did if he were lucky. he looked up at her as she walked in, “you’re still here. i told you that you’re welcome to go home for the evening.”

the last thing that he expected was to be going through something that seemed to only happen in movies or in books. it was added stress, something he didn’t want around the holidays, but regardless of that he worked hard to help his wife remember what the two of them had together. roman missed her, missed their relationship and it seemed that no matter what he did, nothing was ever going to be normal again. he was attending a christmas party with her and even went as far as to get all cleaned up, and even so, her attention was elsewhere and the realization of that was like a punch in the gut. he approached her slowly, not wanting to make a scene, “i’m gonna go,” he started, “it’s just, i see the way you look at him. please don’t deny it. i only know because you used to look at me that way...”

he’d been searching for alaric. it was a process and something he’d been doing since he got here. he was using a camera to help him look around when someone stopped right in front of it. he pursed his lips and put it down, “i’m not...trying to be weird.” he told him and cleared his throat. “i was just...looking for someone.” he tucked his camera under his arm, “i’m roman. i’m new here.”

roman looked up at the man joined him and he recognized him as someone he met early on. he smiled slightly and lifted his shoulders up in a shrug, “ah, he’s not budging and i was chasing him down for a little while but i do not think it’s worth it anymore. he isn’t going to listen and so maybe i could stay here too...” he rambled. while he did like his job back in the water, he was getting used to his life one land too.

“i’ve noticed a lot of singers ending up here in hollows creek,” roman spoke to the woman after she climbed off stage. the mermaid really wasn’t good at conversation but he was on the clock, working security at the club for the night and he thought he might as well talk to her. “is this the new LA or what?” he asked, his eyebrows furrowed in curiosity. he actually didn’t know a lot about life on land but had learned a decent amount by watching late night sit coms.
