Threads vs Twitter
So on Twitter you would tweet a post. A string of tweets was a thread. And if you were doing it live, it was just live-tweeting an event. On Threads I propose you "stitch" together a post. And a string of stitches could still be a thread BUT live-posting would be knitting.
Let's talk Threads
Recently I've been cutting back my time with the blue bird. It's a combination of factors for me, I even cancelled my blue subscription since the only thing it's really good for for me is longer posts and half of the time the edit feature doesn't work or show up even when it's within the suggested timeframe to edit a post.
Obviously, I'd be looking for an alternative. I saw someone post about Threads, I have an instagram, it made sense to try it.
Fair warning about Threads if you're thinking of trying it, the only way to fully get rid of your Threads is to delete your posts on Threads and your Instagram. It's not necessarily a separate platform, it's more of an offshoot of Instagram, hence the only way to fully delete your account being to delete your Instagram.
So far though, I'm enjoying it. While people are saying it's like a clone of the bird app, it's not really. It's more like an odd combo of the blue bird and discord. There's no tags to search, you can only search for other users. The feed is very much everyone talking at once. It does show you posts from people you follow, so the more you follow that are on there, I'd assume it would drown out the random posts.
The vibe is very much like a mix of throwing a message in a bottle out to sea and hoping someone finds it, and yelling in an already loud and crowded room. In a weird way though, it's kind of fun because of that.
It's mostly about interaction, which is definitely something I feel the bird app lacks. It doesn't feel like posting to a void. I know what I post will be seen by others. I'm not worrying about the numbers, I can just post and not worry about much. It feels more casual in a way there and I dig it.
