@healiotrope gets a visit from Misty Quigley at Camp Green Pine
The cleanup of personal affects seemed more an effort to control and isolate than it was an effort to 'unplug' and 'reconnect with our intuitive spirits' or whatever the purple-clad cultist had just told her. Not that Natalie had ever been glued to her devices, but Misty was surprised she'd really just accept getting cut off from everyone, least of all from her best friend who was finally here to help.
Of course, there was the matter of Lottie Matthews convincing Natalie that somehow this would be good for her. Sure, Nat had been in and out of various wellness centers, but these people weren't authorized to help her. Sure, once upon a time Misty might have felt that Lottie had some charismatic, enigmatic intuition. But this was just plain cultish, no matter how much they dressed it up with purple robes and boutique farmer's market stands.
Besides, what did Lottie know about the help Natalie needed? It wasn't like they were that close, even if there were bonds from their past that only the two women could understand. Misty wasn't jealous, she was just pragmatic. Skeptical. Analytical.
"Lottie," she said, trying to disguise the impatience in her voice as her phone was surrendered after some poorly timed text messages. "Interesting place you've got here. I don't know how you've convinced Natalie that you have her best interests at heart, but I'm taking her home as soon as humanly possible. No offense."
