Tea for Two - Emma’s Flat Evan & @emmaofvanity 25 June, 1984
On edge would have been an understatement when it came to how Evan was feeling the day after the mission. He and Theo had gone home early on in the morning and she convinced him to sleep. His wakeup left him feeling groggier than he could appreciate and the owl couldn’t have come at a worst time. A distraction was a distraction though and it would mean his being out of Theo’s hair for a little while instead of having her witness his pacing back and forth along the length of their flat while he tried to gain control of his racing thoughts.
There was too much to think about and too many things left unspoken that eventually would need to be said. Lacking sleep and being overly anxious about the whole thing wasn’t the time to have a discussion on it so he was all too grateful for the excuse to bake something and be distracted for a little while. He had taken the extra step of bringing cookies fresh out of the oven to Theo and requested that she owl him if any of her symptoms got worse before packing up a few and leaving.
It was a relief to be able to apparate onto the property and not have to worry about tripping wards or getting soot on his clothes. He hadn’t put much effort into his look for the day as it was - tossing on the first thing he touched in his closet and not having brushed his hair. It wouldn’t have been worth it since he had a habit of messing with it when he worried. Evan shook the thoughts from his head and approached the door, knocking once and offering a tired smile when Emma opened it.
“I brought cookies,” He admitted and offered the platter to her, leaving the conversation at that until he could be certain his thoughts wouldn’t be overheard by anyone else.
