My take on the traditional pattern. I don't know what it originally meant; I know it's meaningful to me, and I knew I would have to paint it someday. That day has come.
The title I gave it could also mean three rabbits. And three rabbits are also valid for the traditional pattern. And this wasn't intended as a zoological identification guide illustration. They are some sort of bunnies anyway, being mysterious and nocturnal (and maybe slightly meatcrime-y).
This took oddly long, it's very small (nine centimetres in diameter) but I wanted to be sure that it was how I wanted it, so I took my time with it. I really like circular compositions, even if I don't do as many of them because I can't tape down a circle properly and I have to cut it square anyway and I couldn't help but feel like that is a waste. However, when something really wants to be a circle, it's going to be a circle; and there's no feeling of waste then, after all, the circularness is necessary for the picture.
