three favourite foods - rice crackers, chocolate chip cookies and dominos pizza (this is making me so hungry now lol)

To play: Pick a WIP, OC, or other project, and tell us your favorite thing, the most frustrating thing, and a random thing about it!

I'm playing tag games with Here There Be Monsters these days, so here we go!

Favorite Thing:

The freedom. The whole project is about creative freedom, particularly from my own restrictions and expectations, and freedom is a running theme in the work itself. I'm planning on it being episodic in structure, so I will be able to take this story wherever I like with a little more wiggle room than a typical main plot-subplot structure.

Most Frustrating Thing:

The freedom. No really! I feel good about the episodic structure, but the lack of a singular, overall plot idea can sometimes make me feel like I'm adrift. There's an ocean of possibilities, and in this case there's not much narrowing it all down. It's a double-edged sword, like many things when it comes to storytelling!

Random Thing:

Every character is going to get time in the spotlight! Another one of the great things about the episodic structure is that I can write "episodes" or story arcs that focus one each of the characters - including those who aren't protagonists! I can even make episodes that heavily feature new characters never before seen and never to be seen again.

Inquisitor Pheobe "Phoenix" Lavellan

I was tagged by @tevinter-amatus! (thank you very much btw!!!) And I'm going to tag; @loveydoveypiperwright, @elfrootelf, @schoute, and @rottentidepod and anyone else who would like to do this, (yes this means you!!!!!!)

Her mother is one of my Warden HoF OCs (I'm still working on the details!!) but Phoenix isn't knowledgeable that The Warden is her mother and The Warden is only knowledgeable that her daughter remained with Clan Lavellan.

Before the events of DAI she was trained as a hunter with her clan, she only found her liking for two-handed swords after joining the Inquisition. She trains with Blackwall and Iron Bull.

Her nickname, Phoenix, was used as an alias when she first joined the Inquisition after the conclave. It was slightly inspired by The Champion of Kirkwall being known as Hawke. It slowly just became a nickname as it was close to her actual name.

Your favorite thing:

My favorite thing about my wip is that the universe contains everything I love and what I couldn’t stop thinking about in the last few years. The characters, the worlds they come from, the magic, the limits and costs, the changing of settings, the development of relationships and character arcs...Many thoughts and scenarios I had for these characters are given shape and form through the story and I love that they are not wasted thanks to this. 

The most frustrating thing:

Can I say the most frustrating thing on most stories is the plot for me? Like I get that the plot is what makes the characters move and face their internal conflicts, but I’m much more interested in that then the actual plot - not just in my wip, but in stories, movies and series too. So making up the plot for this wip was slow, but the details and circumstances that I have to figure out, research and design for the plot to work are the most frustrating right now. 

A random fact:

A story begins with characters for me, and I have had the main cast in mind for a while. I like focusing only on few characters at a time, more then four would be too much, so I don’t have all that many sidecharacters. Actually I have more magic types now then charcaters, so I have to figure some out, that would represent the magic kind the best! It’s kinda funny :D

I’m going be using Providence

Favorite Thing: I found I love worldbuilding. More specifically working on the religion. I loved creating the Gods & Goddess, how everyone sees them. Celebrations, roles. I spent a very long time on this part of worldbuilding

Most frustration thing: Describing things about the world without just talking about every little thing. Like Cicely had to talk about the war but it got wordy.

Random Fact: During the planning phase, I had three different characters who could be with Cicely in the end, because I was still working out everyone’s personality but I went back to the OG idea of her and Galib when I was done outlining and I just fell in love with them.

Going to use Ziel for this one ~ I’ve been neglecting him :(

Pick a WIP/OC/Project and tell me:

Your favorite thing:

Ziel is quiet, reserved, and soft-hearted. And especially now that he is head of the Council (in book 2, anyway), people always give him a hard time for it - saying they need someone who has a harsher personality to lead them. He has a hidden sharp edge to his personality though, and I love that about him. Just when you are about to sigh and give up on him, he steps up and shows he is more than capable at handling things as a leader (even if he doesn’t think so).

The most frustrating thing:

His self-doubt is sad and frustrating to the characters and myself, and I cannot waitttt to finally get to the time when I’m blessed enough to write the scene where he realizes his true worth.

A random fact:

You’d think that Ziel would have shied away from Phael’s sometimes fiery personality when they first became friends, but he didn’t allow Phael to walk all over him while also treating him with fairness and kindness regardless. I think Phael was so accustomed to having people treat him like an enemy or authority, that being treated as an equal by someone as nice as Ziel was what made their friendship grow strong.
