Just need to put this tiny happy somewhere.
I’m in the process of starting a side gig selling secondhand clothing. The investment in my supplies has been less than expected, so I can get started soon. My first inventory shopping day is set for the 23rd. I get to thrift for a living. I could cry.
I know "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism,"
But if you purchase limited edition items explicitly to resell them at largely inflated prices - you are just straight up not a good person
Today's Find:
Today, I decided to stop at my local Family Thrift Center on my way back from sending out a few orders. I've gone there almost daily for about the last week, so I wasn't expecting to find anything. I was going through the aisles and this item caught my eye, but I decided it wasn't worth my time. Something inside me made me turn around and check it anyway.
The item is a Waterwise 9000, which is a water distiller system. New, these items go for $399 (!!!!). They can be seen here: http://www.waterwise.com/productcart/pc/9000.asp
Upon looking the item up on eBay, I found out that they sell used anywhere from $99 to $175. I realized that this one is missing the collector/dispenser bottle (the purple bowl in the photo was my makeshift container to test the product), but there was a listing on eBay that was missing the same piece and the person sold it for $99.99 with $25.99 shipping.
The best part about this item is that it was marked $9.99 P. This specific thrift store picks two colors (not sure how often the colors rotate) and discounts any item with those colors by 50%. The colors today were Blue (B) and Pink (P), so I got 50% off, making the item only $4.99!
The item needs a good scrubbing, but I'm hoping to list and sell the item for $99.99, which would make me a profit of about $85 after eBay fees.
I'm quite proud of myself.
Introduction
To anyone actually reading this:
Hi, my name is Kylie. I'm 22 years old and graduated from college last May with two degrees. These degrees have pretty much gotten me nowhere as of now, so lately I've been struggling to earn money. I've always loved shopping, especially when it includes getting awesome discounts. I've tried selling a few things on eBay before and have had a tiny bit of success, but I was never too serious about it until now.
My goal for this blog is to share some awesome finds with anyone who might be thinking about making some extra money through eBay. There's a ton of awesome stuff out there at thrift stores, but it helps to know what to look for.
I'm not an expert on this stuff by any means, but I hope that you enjoy reading about my finds and hopefully they'll inspire you to go out there and start finding your own!
