Have a Week Day? Have a Drink.
Manic Monday begins the entire mess. Soon to be followed by Winey Wednesday, leading into Thirsty Thursday. And then finally - Fun Day Friday! Each day has us "working for the weekend", preparing us for the inevitable celebration that is our time off from the daily grind.
Gimmicky they may be, but the need for whimsy in our lives seems all too obvious, as we jump on the Thirsty Thursday bandwagon with vigor, and head out with friends after work on a quest to quench said thirst.
This week, I propose something a little different. Today, I declare this Tranquil Tuesday. Instead of the continual running around that always seems to be our lives, go pick up a bottle of your favorite wine (we all know you can get four glasses for the price of one at your local watering hole), warm up the grill, throw caution to the wind, fill the kiddy pool with water and soak your feet while sipping satisfaction in a glass. Satisfaction of a job well done. Soak it in and savor it.
I can already picture myself lounging in a chair, cooling the feet that feel like they walked the ends of the earth today. I can smell the char on the meat. I can feel the glass in my hand, condensation just beginning to form. What's in my glass? Lucien Crochet Sancerre.
Since the mid-20th century Sancerre has been world famous for the crisp, herbaceous style and marked minerality of itsSauvignon Blanc. The distinctively smoky, gunflint character of Sauvignon Blanc from this area is an intrinsic part of the Sancerre palate. It is complemented by the appellation's other key mineral, calcium, which is present in the form of limestone in the soils and as a 'chalky' flavor in the wines.
A perfect accompaniment to my Tranquil Tuesday.
