There are many kinds of #Suman (sticky rice rolled & steamed in banana leaves) found in what is now the #Philippines. This one is called #Tupig, from my Lola Fely's motherland, #Pangasinan. It is a native delicacy across the Ilocos & Cagayan regions of the north, but unlike other suman, Tupig is grilled & roasted over charcoal. Yesterday I was able to share this part of my childhood, a piece of my roots, with others during our "Keep Calm & Eat Suman" pre-finals week event at the #UCDavis #AsianAmerican Studies Dept. Like what our wise counselor reminded us yesterday, it is important that we ground ourselves, to reconnect & be nourished with our own roots. A big thanks to everyone who joined & helped us in this nourishing event for our mind, body, & soul. I hope we're able to help y'all #ThriveThroughFinals!! 😉❤️✊ (at UC Davis Asian American Studies)
